Frequently Asked Questions About St. Paul Lutheran Church

What worship opportunities are available at St.Paul?

We recognize that people experience God in many ways. We offer a variety of times and styles of worship to reach as many people as possible. Communion is celebrated at every service. Our current worship schedule is;

                        5:00 P.M. Saturday              traditional and relaxed

                        8:00 A.M. Sunday                traditional

                        10:15 A.M. Sunday              contemporary

Special weekday and evening services are held throughout the year to celebrate significant times in the life of the church and community—Advent, Thanksgiving Eve, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Lent, Holy Week, and Easter Sunday—Dates and times of these services are available by calling the church office (219-874-7293).

Certain life events, such as weddings and funerals, are also opportunities to worship the God who created us for community and who receives, at life’s end, all who believe in Him, to live with Him in glory forever.

Can I receive communion at St. Paul?

We invite all who are baptized, regardless of church membership, to commune with us. We believe that salvation comes through belief in Jesus Christ and that His body and blood are truly present in the bread and wine. Grape juice is available for those who may be sensitive to wine. Children who do not yet commune are invited to come forward for a special blessing.

Do I have to be a member of St. Paul to participate in church activities?

No. We invite and encourage you to participate in any activity that interests you. It is through your involvement that you will become more aware of the gifts that God has given you and discover ways in which He has called you to use them.

How do I become a member of St. Paul?

The Pastor meets with individuals at a time convenient for all. These meetings are opportunities for you to ask questions and explore what it means to be a Lutheran Christian. There are no tests! People wishing to transfer membership from another congregation to St. Paul may request a transfer from their current congregation. New members are received into our congregation during regular worship services.

What educational opportunities are available for adults at St. Paul?

We invite you to make suggestions regarding your educational needs. We are open to beginning new Bible studies, book studies, or discussion groups on topics of interest. There are currently two or three adult Sunday school classes.

We want you to know how much God loves you! It is our mission to spread the Good News to all people. This includes you. We invite you to worship with us each weekend. Let us show you how enriched your life will be when living in faith.
